Turning 65? How to Apply for Medicare Online

Wondering what information you will need to apply for Medicare online? If you’re turning 65, the only information that you need is:

  • Your full name
  • Your date of birth
  • Your social security number
  • Basic contact information

You will need to create an online account with at SSA.gov if you haven’t done so already. This means you’ll need to be ready with your email address and the answers to some basic security questions.

If you have delayed your Part B because you’ve been using employer coverage, you will need to have your employer fill out a form titled “Request for Employer Information”. You can get the form on SSA.gov. It is important to know that you’ll have to have the form before you can complete the application. After your employer fills it out, upload it to your application and you are done!
